Searching Correspondences in Colour Stereo

چکیده

| We introduce an approach for obtaining dense contour maps of objects, which is based on the combination of the images of two or more colour cameras. As with all stereo techniques corresponding points in the image planes of the cameras, i. e. pixels illuminated by a certain point on the object, must be identiied before the distance between the cameras and the object point is computed by triangulation. The search process should nd as many correspondences as possible to enable the generation of dense range maps and the process must be accurate because errors in the pixel assignment directly aaect the precision of the computed distance. With the correspondence search presented here the function that determines the similarity between the image segments under consideration is a special application of the fuzzy integral and hence nonlinear. Through fuzzy measures knowledge about the colour channels , e. g. their transfer function or their credibility, may be incorporated into the search process. Our rst ndings, which are discussed in the paper, indicate that the method is considerably more eeective than the standard approach of minimizing the squared diierence between line blocks. We conclude the paper with a discussion of the potential of the method and directions of possible future research.

Stereo Vision Local Map Alignment for Robot Environment Mapping

Finding correspondences between sensor measurements obtained at different places is a fundamental task for an autonomous mobile robot. Most matching methods search correspondences between salient features extracted from such measurements. However, finding explicit matches between features is a challenging and expensive task. In this paper we build a local map using a stereo head aided by sonars...

Implementing an Adaptive Approach for Dense Stereo-matching

Defining pixel correspondences in stereo-pairs is a fundamental process in automated image-based 3D reconstruction. In this contribution we report on an approach for dense matching, based on local optimization. The approach represents a fusion of state-of-theart algorithms and novel considerations, which mainly involve improvements in the cost computation and aggregation processes. The matching...

A Comparison of Image Data Representations for Local Stereo Matching

The stereo matching problem, while having been present for several decades, continues to be an active area of research. The goal of this research is to find correspondences between elements found in a set of stereoscopic images. With these pairings, it is possible to infer the distance of objects within a scene, relative to the observer. Advancements in this field have led to experimentations w...
